Twitter has recently announced the resumption of issuing ‘blue tick’ for its account holders under new guidelines that certain categories of individuals and organizations can request account verification.
The company announced on Thursday that it will restart the process of account verification and providing blue badges to the verified accounts to distinguish it with fake accounts.
The news went viral on the news channels as thousands of the Twitter users were waiting for such an announcement for around four years.
According to reports, the account verification process is only open for the government officials, companies, brands, non-profit organizations, news organizations, journalists, entertainment, sports, activists, organizers and other influential individuals.
The process has been simplified and can be applied from ‘account settings’.
Certain documents including the identity proofs and reliable links to verify applicants’ status are required to apply for Twitter account verification.
The applications will be manually reviewed and it will take from one to four weeks time for the applicants to receive a response. If the account is approved, account holder will get a blue badge and if it is disapproved, new application can be submitted in 30 days time from the rejection date.
This comes as Twitter had officially stopped account verification process in 2017.
