The U.S. President Donald Trump is optimistic that a vaccine for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease will be developed by the end of the year.

Speaking at Fox News Virtual Town Hall, President Trump, however, warned that the virus could kill as many as 100,000 people in the United States.

Trump further added that “I think we’re going to have a vaccine by the end of the year. The doctors would say, well you shouldn’t say that. I’ll say what I think… I think we’ll a vaccine sooner rather than later.”

Meanwhile, public health experts believe it will between 12 to 18 months to develop a vaccine for the virus.

This comes as reports indicate the novel coronavirus has so far killed more than 67,000 people in the United States.
