Russia races US to shoot first film in space, eyes sending film crew on 5th October

A Russian film director and actress are blasting off to the International Space Station (ISS) in October in a bid to shoot the first film in the orbit as Moscow is racing Washington to become the first country to shoot in space. 

Yulia Peresild, one of the most celebrated actresses of Russia, and Film Director Klim Shipenko, are expected to blast off to the International Space Station on 5th of October in a bid to shoot the film.

Presesild told AFP “I really want us to be not only the first but also the best.”

The film project titled ‘The Call’, was announced in the month of September last year, four months after the Hollywood project.

The Mission Impossible st4ar Tom Cruise and Hollywood Director Doug Liman had earlier announced their project to shoot in the space together with NASA and Space X.
