The Royan Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Thompson, Manitoba, are conducting a Public Mischief investigation after responding to a bomb threat at the Thompson Hospital which they believe was a hoax phone call.
The Thompson RCMP in a statement said “On July 8, 2021, at 4:30 am, Thompson RCMP responded to a bomb threat at the Thompson Hospital.”
The statement further added that hospital staff advised that they received a call from a male advising of an “IED” in the building and that they needed to evacuate.
The officers attended to the hospital and conducted a thorough search of the complex, including a nearby administrative building, and did not locate any suspicious package or device, the Thompson RCMP said, adding that inside the hospital, there were approximately 55 patients and staff who were affected but not evacuated.
Thompson RCMP believe that the phone call was a hoax and are conducting a Public Mischief investigation, the statement added.
