The preliminary results from Canada’s General Election show thenLiberals led incumbent Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have secured lead in the General Elections.
The Liberals are leading in 158 Electoral Districts, while the Conservatives are leading in 119 Electoral Districts as of Tuesday, September 21, , according to the first results announced Elections Canada.
Meanwhile, the Bloc Québécois are leading in 34 Electoral Districts, NDP-New Democratic Party in 25, and the Green Party in 2 Electoral Districts.
Preliminary results are unofficial results based on the statements of the vote prepared for each polling station under section 287 of the Canada Elections Act, according to Elections Canada.
Trudeau, who has been governing Canada since 2015, called the early vote a few weeks ago with the hope of achieving an absolute majority – almost two years after heading a minority government.
However, most poll analysis suggest the most likely scenario would be another minority government as a majority for the frontrunners seems unlikely.
