Ontario reports over 900 new COVID-19 cases, six additional deaths on Friday

The Ontario Health reported over 900 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and six additional deaths due to the virus over a 24 hour period.

Christine Elliott, the minister of health of Ontario, said 494 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated .

Elliott further added that 55 cases were identified in individuals with an unknown vaccination status.

She also added that 268 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 221 people are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 47 are fully vaccinated.

140 people are in Intensive Care Unit due to COVID-19, including 130 individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.

In Ontario, 22,865,543 vaccine doses have been administered. Nearly 89.2% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 86.2% have two doses.
