Ontario reports 687 new cases of COVID-19, three deaths in past 24 hours

Onatario is reporting nearly 687 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and three additional deaths over a 24-hour period.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 329 of the new cases were identified in individuals whonare not fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that 50 cases are in individuals with an unknown vaccination status.

“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.6% of Ontario’s total population & amount to 329 of Ontario’s 687 new reported cases. 50 cases are in individuals with an unknown vaccination status,” she said.

Meanwhile, Elliott, said 266 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. 218 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 48 are fully vaccinated.

153 people are in ICU due to COVID-19, she said, adding that 134 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 19 are fully vaccinated.

In Ontario, 22,978,037 vaccine doses have been administered. Nearly 89.9% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and nearly 86.4% have two doses.
