Nearly 50 people died of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in various provinces in Canada in the past 24 hours.
The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) announced late on Wednesday that the majority of the deaths were reported in Ontario where 19 people died of the virus.
The British Columbia reported 8 new deaths, Quebec 8 new deaths, Alberta 6 new deaths, Manitoba 4, Nova Scotia 2 and New Brunswick 1 new deaths.
According to the latest COVID-19 daily epidemiology update released by Public Health of Canada (PHAC), Ontario reported 1,588 new positive cases during the period.
Alberta reported 908 new cases, Quebec 584, British Columbia 521, Manitoba 402, Saskatchewan 141, Nova Scotia 83, New Brunswick 8, Prince Edward Island 5, Nunavut 4, Newfoundland and Labrador 3 and Northwest Territories 1.
Meanwhile, the Public Health Agency of Canada said Yukon did not provide the daily update on the new cases and deaths in the past 24 hours.
