The mask restrictions in Alberta will be gone in Stage 3 of the Open for Summer Plan, Alberta’s Premier Jason Kenney said.
“The mask restriction will be gone in Stage 3. This can happen in late June or early July – we just need more Albertans to get their first dose to hit our 70% goal,” Kenney said in a Twitter post.
This comes as Alberta on Saturday launched the Open for Summer Vaccine Lottery with three $1 million prizes in a bid to encourage the eligible Albertans to book their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Expressing concerns regarding the declining demand by Albertans to books their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Kenney said “Alberta today is announcing that we are launching the Open for Summer Vaccine Lottery with three $1 million prizes and a range of other exciting prizes that will be announced in the days to come,”
Kenney also added that the first installment of the Open for Summer Lottery will be open to all Albertans aged 18 and over who get at least their first dose of vaccine within seven days of hitting that critical 70% threshold for first dose of vaccines.
According to Alberta Health Services, Alberta has administered 3,336,850 doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of June 11.
