The Police in India have arrested two men who appeared in a video throwing the dead body of a COVID-19 victim into river.

The shocking video surfaced this weekend and went viral on social media, showing two young men throwing the body of victim into Rapti river in Uttar Pradesh.

The incident reportedly took place on Saturday at Sisai Ghat, the India Today reported.

The victim has been identified as Premnath, a resident of Shohratgadh Siddharathanagar in Uttar Pradesh, who had dbeen admitted to hospital on 25th of May after testing positive for COVID-19.

Chief Medical Officer of Balrampur has said Premnath’s body was handed over to his relatives after he died on 28th of May.

The video surfaced days after dozens of dead bodies were seen floating in rivers in Bihar and Utter Pradesh states of India amid devastating surge in COVID-19 cases which has reportedly killed more than 329,000 people.
