Six children were sent to a local hospital in Mississauga after a fire swept through a house early on Saturday.

The Peel Regional Police said the fire ripped through a semi detached house in Windwood Drive and Starfield Crescent this morning.

The Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services said a two-alarm fire swept through a house in Starfield Crescent, in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Britannia Road West.

Mississauga Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi confirmed that six children including a neonate were transported to hospital.

This comes as a fire swept through a house in an apartment building at 828 Shaw Street in Toronto city earlier today, sending four people to hospital.

The Acting Fire Chief of Toronto Jim Jessop told reporters that 11 people were rescued from the apartment building.

Jessop further added that four people were taken to hospital with one of them being in critical life-threatening condition.
