Elon Musk has vowed to sell the Tesla stock immediately if the United Nations can show how the $6 billion would solve the world hunger.
His comments followed the remarks by a top UN official who called on Musk and Jeff Bezos to step up and help the world hunger.
“$6 billion to help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them. It’s not complicated,” the UN World Food Programme (WFP) director David Beasley said in an interview with CNN last week.
Reacting to Beasley’s remarks, Musk took Twitter, saying “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6 billion will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.”
Musk further added “But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.”
Responding to Musk’s remarks, Beasley said the $6B will not solve world hunger, but it WILL prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation.
Vowing that he would bring the plan and open books, Beasley further added that he could meet Musk anywhere, earth or space. However, he suggested that they should meet in the field where he (Musk) could see WFP’s people, processes and technology, at work.
