Drone strike kills ISIS mastermind of deadly Kabul attacks: CENTCOM

“U.S. military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner,” Capt. Bill Urban, USN, U.S. Central Command spokesman said.

Capt. Urban further added “The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties.”

ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K), the offshoot of the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) in Afghanistan, claimed the responsibility for the deadly attacks in Kabul airport.

According the latest reports, the attacks left t least 170 Afghans and 13 U.S. service members dead and scores of others wounded.

This comes as President Joe Biden had earlier vowed to retaliate against the terror group.
