Canada’s women’s soccer team opens Olympics Games with a draw against Japan

The Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team opened the Olympics Games with a 1-1 draw against the hosts Japan on Wednesday. (Photo – Canada Soccer)

Played at the Sapporo Dome in Sapporo of Japan, Christine Sinclair’s goal gave Canada an early lead, helping her team to end the first half with 1-0 lead.

However, Mana Iwabuchi of Japan evened the score during the 84th minute of the game by striking a goal from outside the area.

Canada will face South American national Chile on 24th of July and Great Britain on 27th in Group E of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
