Canada reports more than 6,300 new COVID cases in past 24 hours

The Health Canada Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) reported more than 6,300 cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID) across the country in the past 24 hours.

The latest update released by Health Canada and PHAC indicates that 6,325 positive cases of the virus were recorded in various provinces in the past 24 hours, increasing the total cases number to 1,294,186 since the outbreak of the disease.

Additionally, 40 new deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, raising the total death tally to 24,682.

According to Health Canada and PHAC, the majority of the cases were reported in Ontario (66%) and Quebec (78.3%).

Meanwhile, Health Canada and PHAC said “Of the 13 jurisdictions reporting updates, no new cases were reported in 2 provinces or territories in the past 24 hours. Of the 13 jurisdictions reporting updates, no new deaths were reported in 8 provinces or territories in the past 24 hours.”

Yukon and Northwest territories reported 0 new positive cases while Saskatchewan, New Foundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut reported 0 new deaths during the same period.
