Canada on Monday extended flight ban from India for another 30 days in a bid to help manage the elevated risk of imported COVID-19 cases and variants of concern.
“Our government announced that it’s renewing the flight ban between Canada and India for 30 days, to July 21st, 2021,” Omar Alghabra, the Minister of Transport said.
Alghabra further added “Based on the public health data, we will not be renewing the flight ban between Canada and Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, the Transport Canada said the restriction will apply on all direct commercial and private passenger flights and will be effective until July 21, 2021 at 23:59 EDT.
The Transport Canada also added that “We are also extending the requirement for air passengers who depart India to Canada, via an indirect route, to obtain a COVID19 pre-departure test from a 3rd country before continuing their journey to Canada.”
