Played in Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas, Stephen Eustaquio opened the score for Canada during the 5th minute of the first half.
Cyle Larin hit the second and third goal for Canada during the 51st and 74th minutes of the second half while Junior Hoilett scored the 4th goal during the 79th minute of the game.
Stephane Lambese of Haiti hit the only goal for his team during the 56th minute of the second half.
“We started fast tonight and that was the focus, to get out there and be first. It was great to see the intensity they started with. With Haiti, they’re never going away, with their athleticism and their spirit to keep fighting, they’re a hard team,” Head Coach John Herdman was quoted as saying in a news release by Soccer Canada.
Herman further added “I think tonight the boys were really professional about how they managed themselves in a game that was so physical against Haiti.”
Canada will face United States during the last group stage match on Sunday.
