B.C. reports close to 500 new COVID-19 cases, 9 additional deaths in past 24 hours

“B.C. is reporting 468 new cases of COVID-19, including five epi-linked cases, for a total of 214,150 cases in the province,” the B.C. government said in a statement.

The authorities in Fraser Health identified 173 new cases in the past 24 hours, Vancouver Coastal Health 69 new cases, Interior Health 85 new cases, Northern Health 68, and Island Health 72 new cases.

There are 3,345 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 208,284 people who tested positive have recovered, the B.C. government said, adding that of the active cases, 355 individuals are currently in hospital and 110 are in intensive care.

The B.C. government also added that in the last 24 hours, nine new deaths have been reported, including 5 in Fraser Health, one in Interior Health, two in Northern Health, and one in Island Health.

The new deaths increase the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 2,290.
