Alberta reports over 5,000 COVID-19 cases, 23 deaths over a 3-day period

The Alberta Health is reporting over 5,000 cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 23 additional deaths over a three-day period.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said the Alberta Health identified 1,758 new cases by completing 15,000 tests in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that the Alberta Health identified 1,541 new cases on 25th and 1,882 new cases on 24th September.

“Sadly, 23 new deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported to Alberta Health in the last 72 hours,” Dr. Hinshaw said.

Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw said 1,063 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 265 people being treated in Intensive Care Unit.

She also added that 75.5% of the 798 non-ICU patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated while 91.7% of ICU patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
