Alberta reports over 1,000 COVID-19 cases, 17 additional deaths over a 3-day period

The Alberta Health reported 1,065 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and seventeen new deaths over a 3-day period.

The Chief Medical Officer of Health of Alberta, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said the health authorities identified 286 new cases out of 6,600 tests in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that the authorities identified 353 new cases by completing 7,100 tests on November 13, and 429 cases by completing around 8,000 tests on 12th of November.

She also added that 519 people are in hospital due to COVID-19. “Of the 419 non-ICU, 72.6% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. Of the 100 in ICU, 81% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.”

“Sadly, 17 new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health since Nov 11,” she added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw, said Alberta has received 5,000 doses of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. Supply is limited and doses will be administered at AHS clinics in select locations.
