Alberta on Sunday reported the lowest number of new COVID-19 positive cases for the first time since August of last year.
The Alberta Premier Jason Kenney took Twitter this afternoon, confirming that the Alberta Health Services identified just 89 new COVID cases on Saturday.
According to Kenney, the positive rate has decreased to 1.8% and 53 COVID patients are currently in Intensive Care Unit.
Kenney also added that the Alberta Health has so far administered 2.7 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine so far.
Meanwhile, the Alberta Health Services announced that they are experiencing a high demand for COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
“Appointments will open up as more supply is available – but the sooner more Albertans book their second dose, the sooner we can get back to normal,” the Alberta Health Services said in a Twitter post.
