The Alberta Health on Tuesday reported 29 deaths due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a period of 24 hours.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, said the Alberta Health identified 1,519 new cases of COVID-19 by completing 13,600 tests over a 24-hour period.
Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw said the Alberta Health also identified over 2,000 cases of Variant of Concern during the same period.
According to Dr. Hinshaw, 29 deaths were also reported to Alberta Health Services in the last 24 hours. “Some of these people were two times vaccinated and had compromised immune systems. Most were unvaccinated.”
She also added that 996 people are hospital due to COVID-19 and 222 of them are being treated in Intensive Care Units.
