Alberta reported 263 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 8 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, said the Alberta Health completed 4,400 tests over the past 24 hours and identified 263 new positive cases.
According to Dr. Hinshaw, the new cases represent a positivity rate of 5.9 percent.
She also added that 8 people died of the virus during the past 24 hours and 439 people are in hospital with 133 of them in Intensive Care Unit.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw said the Stage 1 of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan stars tomorrow, insisting that the plan will succeed if everyone does their part to keep hospitalizations down and vaccination numbers keep going up.
