The Alberta Health reported 10 additional deaths due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) amid rising cases in the last 24 hours.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer, of Health said Thursday that the Alberta Health identified 1,718 new positive cases by completing 16,300 tests over a 24-hour period.
According to Dr. Hinshaw, there are now 18,706 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
Dr. Hinshaw further added that hospitalizations continue to rise with 896 people being treated for COVID-19, including 22 people in the ICU.
She also added that 10 additional deaths due to COVID-19 were also reported to Alberta Health Services over the past 24 hours.
