Alberta and British Columbia reported 2,284 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 14 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said the Alberta Health completed 13,800 tests in the past 24 hours and identified 1,510 new cases.
Dr. Hinshaw further added that 679 people are currently being treated for COVID-19 in hospital, including 154 in ICU.
She also added that 9 new deaths were also reported to Alberta Health during the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Government of British Columbia, in a statement said “B.C. is reporting 774 new cases of COVID-19, including three epi-linked cases, for a total of 172,338 cases in the province.”
The statement further added that there are 5,594 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and of the active cases, 262 individuals are in hospital and 130 are in intensive care.
In the past 24 hours, five new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,847, the statement added.
